Transitions

We’re at the end of October but it’s taken until now for me to feel like autumn is finally here. The glowing pumpkins of Halloween, the beautiful coppers and russets of the trees, the clocks going back. I’m embracing the season with the promise of cozy, candle lit nights ahead.

Its been a hectic time and it’s been months since my last post. Returning to my day job after maternity leave, a traspennine commute and childcare juggling have meant the blog has taken a back seat. That’s not to say I haven’t been itching to share some amazing times and finds. Coupled with the practicalities of the day-to-day, my personal life has been a  whirlwind of events: First family holiday abroad (Italy, I miss you!), a milestone birthday for me (starts with a 4 ends with a 0), our little girls 4th birthday, our sons christening and trying to celebrate with as many friends as possible who all have equally busy lives.

Some of the Manchester highlights I’ve been enjoying have been:

Eating at West Didsbury’s award winning ‘Volta‘ and a couple of trips to their ‘Refuge by Volta’ stunning bar/restaurant at the Palace hotel in the city centre. Beautifully thought out with a bustling bar area and more intimate surrounding nooks. My favourite spot was the winter garden, an elegant glass walled space behind the bar with twinkling lights and duck egg velvet chairs, all enjoyed with cocktail in hand.

A birthday trip to King Streets ‘El Gato Negro’. Delicious tapas, great service and buzzy atmosphere spread over three floors.

Receiving beautifully packaged salted caramel brownies from a friend via ‘The Brownie Post’.

Awesome performance from Texas’ own ‘White Denim‘ at the Ritz.

Perfect, bespoke cards for the children created by the lovely Laura from ‘Hello Sweetie’

There’s then been openings and goings on I haven’t had chance to get to: ‘Object Style’s bricks and mortar premise in Chorlton, seeing all the new stock from ‘Acorn & Pip‘ at Altrincham market, ‘Hokey Pokey‘ also at Altrincham to name but a few.

Lots to catch up on! I hope you’re all enjoying the season, hopefully it won’t be so long until next time x
